First grade will be looking at how to incorporate UFLI into their universal tier instruction for the 2025-2026 school year. This all came about as a result of improvement cycles this year since we have had some incredible data for our early literacy grade levels. Tiffin Elementary has been forging the path with this work. Their first grade teachers will help support teachers from other buildings in learning more. Instructional coaches will also support this work and will be available to help answer questions.
(Physical Layout, Active Sup, and OTR) This session will focus on several, evidence-based methods of increasing student engagement within the classroom. These include setting up the physical environment to maximize engagement, considerations of active supervision across activities, and providing multiple opportunities for students to respond and demonstrate their learning. An understanding of how these practices are connected with trauma-informed strategies will also be embedded within this session.
Meaningful Career Conversations provides educators with an high-level overview of the essential skills, knowledge, and support needed to help students make informed decisions about their future careers. This session seeks to build a foundation of understanding of student behavior and self-regulation, as well as provide teachers with a continuum of strategies to use when unexpected behavior occurs. Participants will be encouraged to be mindful of student need and function of behavior when choosing the most appropriate strategy. Teachers will learn how to support student regulation, foster problem-solving skills, and cultivate supportive relationships to create a positive learning environment.
