This session will focus on two of the most effective foundational strategies for creating positive classroom environments. Learning will center around creating well-designed teaching matrices that allow for consistency and predictability, as well as practical strategies for teaching and reinforcing appropriate behavior. An understanding of how these practices are connected with trauma-informed strategies will also be included.
This session seeks to build a foundation of understanding of student behavior and self-regulation, as well as provide teachers with a continuum of strategies to use when unexpected behavior occurs. Participants will be encouraged to be mindful of student need and function of behavior when choosing the most appropriate strategy. Teachers will learn how to support student regulation, foster problem-solving skills, and cultivate supportive relationships to create a positive learning environment.
First grade will be looking at how to incorporate UFLI into their universal tier instruction for the 2025-2026 school year. This all came about as a result of improvement cycles this year since we have had some incredible data for our early literacy grade levels. Tiffin Elementary has been forging the path with this work. Their first grade teachers will help support teachers from other buildings in learning more. Instructional coaches will also support this work and will be available to help answer questions.
